Application Process
Transfer Students
If you received a bachelor’s or associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university, then it is likely that your general education course requirements will be met. See UNCG Transfer Credit Planner.
If you have taken nutrition/dietetics related courses at another institution, the Nutrition Department’s undergraduate director and DPD director will review the syllabi and course schedules of the courses that you took to determine if the courses are equivalent to similar courses in the dietetics program. Please have copies of the syllabi for all nutrition courses that you are requesting to transfer.
Please note:
- One four-credit-hour section of Anatomy and Physiology will not transfer as BIO 277 Human Physiology and/or BIO 280 Human Anatomy for the Nutrition Department’s requirements.
- Students must complete Anatomy and Physiology I & II with the labs to equate to BIO 277 and BIO 280.
Didactic Program in Dietetics Prior Learning Policy
The Didactic Program Director carefully reviews transcripts for transfer students and post graduate students to evaluate coursework taken prior to entering the DPD program.
- Students with more than one course in need of evaluation should see the transcript review checklists:
- Undergraduate DPD Course Checklist for Transcript Review (PDF)
- Graduate DPD Course Checklist for Transcript Review (PDF)
- Descriptions for UNCG DPD courses can be found in the University Catalog. Submit the form along with the syllabi for each course that you would like to have evaluated to the program director.
- To not repeat a course, that was not automatically accepted for credit, students must provide the DPD director with the following:
- Checklist for Transcript Review
- Most recent transcripts
- Course syllabus for any nutrition course that they would like to have evaluated that has not automatically transferred in as a DPD course
- Information about student learning objectives for a course evaluated match a UNCG didactic course
- Proof the student scored a C or better in the course
- The UNCG DPD program does not give course credit for prior work or volunteer experience.
